Who we are

I'm Viktor Faanes Hølmebakk, founder of URO & Co.

The name Uro comes from my great-grandfather, the author Sigbjørn Hølmebakk. In the village of Feda, a memorial sculpture of him carries his words:
Ta ikke denne uro fra meg.
(Do not take this restlessness from me.)

I read it as a form of enthusiasm for life, where restlessness is movement and creation.

I grew up making things in wood, metal and electronics, and built many lamps along the way – first at home, later for stage lighting and performing arts in Copenhagen. My path went from electrical training and industrial work to a degree in architectural lighting design.

URO makes bespoke projects, lights and other designs for clients. We also make our own collections of design and art, starting with Papir and Fold, with more to follow.
Uro's idea bank is always growing.
